The overall goal of the project is to increase the commercial interaction in the eastern part of the programme area in order to help to create a more attractive business area that can capitalize on the Fehmarn-Belt connection and attract businesses, investments and settlements. The project injects general knowledge to minimum 60 German and 75 Danish SME’s about transboundary innovation, cooperation and sale. This knowledge helps companies to become aware of the cross-border opportunities and to a greater extent think of cross-border cooperation and marketing into their strategy. In addition, 25 of the German companies and 25 of the Danish SMEs will enter into concrete, cross-border innovation collaborations. The purpose of these partnerships is to develop a physical product or a service that can be introduced on the market across the border. The innovation process includes both the development of the physical product or the service, adaption of the product to local requirements/conditions and market testing. A cross-border approach both in relation to project partners and project activities is essential to achieve the project goals. Through close collaboration, the project partners' extensive knowledge of the local business community and external experts is utilized on both sides of the border. It ensures that meaningful cross-border cooperation is established for the companies and that the companies have access to the best cross-border external advice. The innovative nature of the project is partly the hand-held matching between Danish and German companies, and partly the development of a strategy that over a short period of time transforms ideas into specific products that can be introduced in the foreign market.
