The vision of Lake Constance gardens is to increase the attractiveness of the joint natural and cultural heritage of sustainable gardening, to launch new products and services, and to thus raise the number of visitors to gardens in Lake Constance. The topic of gardens is very much in trend and is even booming. It seems particularly important to consolidate, intensify and experience the natural preconditions of the Lake Constance region with its climate and soil, history of garden cultivation, rich cultural assets, etc. The objective is to create a green Lake Constance region, where “closeness to nature” can be experienced and where sustainable / soft tourism can also be enjoyed and experienced. The Lake Constance region should be perceived as an exemplary sustainable region with high technical skill levels when it comes to gardens. Increasing the attractiveness of the whole natural and cultural heritage should be perceptible. Lake Constance gardens can be allocated to the topic areas of nature, culture and indulgence, and form a leading brand product for the four-country region. A major advantage of all these projects is conferred by the “framework” of Lake Constance gardens, which has already been created. The newly founded association for Lake Constance gardens, an independent body with all existing project partners and new gardens, ensures a high level of efficiency in terms of the means deployed. Often, too little attention is paid to the joint cross-border natural and cultural heritage, and sometimes it is as not as attractive as it could be. This is simply part of the international Lake Constance region. The cultivated landscape and constantly accessible culture – Lake Constance as a maintained garden - is what is expected, but in this area there is often all too little networking or sporadic cooperation at best. It is also apparent at the moment that there is a lack of knowledge at the level of “high quality gardening”. This is certainly also to do with the fact that there are indeed project and service ideas to change this situation but the financial means to implement them are often lacking. Thanks to the project, we have been able to launch new innovative and sustainable products and services in this area and increase the cross-border attractiveness of the joint natural and cultural heritage. More people will then visit the countryside and cultural heritage in the region included in the programme. We want to raise awareness of the topics of nature and culture / of gardens and the exemplary role. And we will always do this with a view to the major horticultural show in Überlingen in 2020, the Bavaria garden show in Lindau in 2021, the garden show in Wangen in the Allgäu in 2024, as well as the planned EXPO in Eastern Switzerland in 2027. In addition, the Lake Constance gardens association wants to develop more broadly in the future, i.e. it wants to further establish the topic of gardens in different circles (public, tourism, hotels and catering), economy, municipalities, politics, etc.). Not least of all, a “simpler” path to sustainable / soft development should often be shown to these groups. A joint Lake Constance identity should emerge from this, and those involved should be motivated to work more closely together, to interact and to learn from one another. (English)
