A collective of 11 Dutch and German museums, culture historical organisations and institutes wish to create a new multi-perspective bilateral platform within which the Dutch-German history from 1914 until the present day will be redefined and presented. The project consists of four subsections: 1. In the Shared History Research Lab renowned historians, museum experts and educators from both countries will investigate our (often hidden) mutual history and the presentation thereof. The themes war, freedom, democracy, human rights, and the post-war legacy of European cooperation will be most important. This approach is unique in Europe and should lead to a border-crossing historical narrative for current and future generations. Through an interactive digital communication platform, an educational seminar, conferences, and multiple discussion sessions, the information collected by the Shared History Research Lab will be shared. 2. In Shared History on Tour the Preussen Museum will develop a traveling exhibition based on the new historic narrative. This traveling exhibition will be presented to the public at at least four German and three Dutch locations. 3. The results of the Lab will be presented in a sustainable fashion in Shared History Presented. In this section the storyline that has been developed in the Lab will been incorporated into the permanent exhibition of the National Liberation Museum in Groesbeek as well as in parts of the new permanent exhibition in the Preussen Museum in Wesel (in the future LVR-Niederrheinmuseum Wesel). 4. The overall project planning and coordination as well as the financial managing and the project PR will fall within the section Shared History Planned and Organised. (English)
