The main challenge of the project common for the partners is to preserve natural heritage of cross-border area of Poland and Belarus more effectively. Current situation in both locations needs to be improved: solutions in the field of waste water treatment technologies are energy- and capital-intensive. They are insufficient and it results in pollution of Lasosna and Yaselda rivers which are located in valuable natural areas of the Sokólskie Hills (PL) and the Sporovsky Reserve (BY). Pollution gets to ground waters, then to surface waters, and finally spread widely on the borderland area. Moreover, ecology awareness of citizens and authorities need to be raised and tourist need to be encouraged to visit these regions, because tourism potential of these locations is still untapped. Thus, the purpose of the project is to change this negative trends in order to improve attractiveness of both locations for citizens and tourists. Main goals are determined in the project. It is the modernization of waste water treatment plants, raising of awareness of citizens and authorities and also increasing cross-border knowledge transfer. These goals will be achieved through joint cross-borders activities of partners resulting in outputs such as modernized waste water treatment plants, transnational conferences, publication and campaign promoting preservation of natural heritage. From the project will benefit all the groups which are connected with the areas: citizens, entrepreneurs, farmers and authorities, as well as tourists. Environment protection of cross-border area is a complex issue demanding complex approach. Cross-border cooperation is inevitable to achieve all the goals - to raise awareness transnationally and give a new spirit for authorities of cross-border area. Added value of cooperation will be a new cross-border understanding of environmental issues by beneficiaries. (Polish)

Le principal défi du projet commun aux partenaires est de préserver plus efficacement le patrimoine naturel de la zone transfrontalière de la Pologne et de la Biélorussie. La situation actuelle dans les deux localités doit être améliorée: les solutions dans le domaine des technologies de traitement des eaux usées sont à forte intensité énergétique et en capital. Elles sont insuffisantes et entraînent la pollution des rivières Lasosna et Yaselda, situées dans des zones naturelles précieuses des collines de Sokólskie (PL) et de la réserve Sporovsky (BY). La pollution se répand dans les eaux souterraines, puis dans les eaux de surface, et finalement largement répandue sur la zone frontalière. En outre, il convient de sensibiliser les citoyens et les autorités à l’écologie et d’encourager le tourisme à visiter ces régions, car le potentiel touristique de ces sites n’est toujours pas exploité. Ainsi, l’objectif du projet est de modifier ces tendances négatives afin d’améliorer l’attractivité des lieux tant pour les citoyens que pour les touristes. Les principaux objectifs sont déterminés dans le projet. Il s’agit de moderniser les stations d’épuration des eaux usées, de sensibiliser les citoyens et les autorités et d’accroître le transfert transfrontalier de connaissances. Ces objectifs seront atteints par le biais d’activités transfrontalières conjointes de partenaires aboutissant à des réalisations telles que la modernisation des stations d’épuration des eaux usées, des conférences transnationales, la publication et la campagne de promotion de la préservation du patrimoine naturel. Le projet bénéficiera à tous les groupes liés aux zones: les citoyens, les entrepreneurs, les agriculteurs et les autorités, ainsi que les touristes. La protection de l’environnement dans les zones transfrontalières est une question complexe exigeant une approche complexe. La coopération transfrontalière est inévitable pour atteindre tous les objectifs — sensibiliser au niveau transnational et donner un nouvel esprit aux autorités de la zone transfrontalière. La valeur ajoutée de la coopération sera une nouvelle compréhension transfrontalière des questions environnementales par les bénéficiaires. (French)

Die wichtigste Herausforderung des gemeinsamen Projekts für die Partner besteht darin, das Naturerbe des grenzüberschreitenden Gebiets Polens und Weißrusslands wirksamer zu erhalten. Die derzeitige Situation an beiden Standorten muss verbessert werden: Lösungen im Bereich der Abwasserbehandlungstechnologien sind energie- und kapitalintensiv. Sie sind unzureichend und führen zu einer Verschmutzung der Flüsse Lasosna und Yaselda, die sich in wertvollen Naturgebieten der Sokólskie-Hügel (PL) und des Sporowski-Reservats (BY) befinden. Die Verschmutzung kommt in Grundwasser, dann in Oberflächengewässer und verbreitet sich schließlich weit über das Grenzgebiet. Darüber hinaus muss das Ökologiebewusstsein der Bürger und Behörden erhöht werden, und die Touristen müssen ermutigt werden, diese Regionen zu besuchen, da das touristische Potenzial dieser Orte noch nicht ausgeschöpft ist. Ziel des Projekts ist es daher, diese negativen Trends zu ändern, um die Attraktivität der Standorte für Bürger und Touristen zu verbessern. Die wichtigsten Ziele werden im Projekt festgelegt. Dabei handelt es sich um die Modernisierung von Abwasserbehandlungsanlagen, die Sensibilisierung der Bürger und Behörden sowie die Förderung des grenzüberschreitenden Wissenstransfers. Diese Ziele werden durch gemeinsame grenzübergreifende Tätigkeiten von Partnern erreicht, die zu Ergebnissen führen, wie modernisierte Abwasserbehandlungsanlagen, transnationale Konferenzen, Veröffentlichung und Kampagne zur Erhaltung des Naturerbes. Von dem Projekt profitieren alle Gruppen, die mit den Bereichen verbunden sind: Bürger, Unternehmer, Landwirte und Behörden sowie Touristen. Der Umweltschutz grenzübergreifender Gebiete ist ein komplexes Problem, das einen komplexen Ansatz erfordert. Die grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit ist unumgänglich, um alle Ziele zu erreichen – transnationales Bewusstsein zu schärfen und Behörden im grenzüberschreitenden Raum einen neuen Geist zu geben. Der Mehrwert der Zusammenarbeit wird ein neues grenzüberschreitendes Verständnis von Umweltfragen durch die Begünstigten darstellen. (German)

De belangrijkste uitdaging van het gemeenschappelijk project voor de partners is het behoud van het natuurlijk erfgoed van het grensoverschrijdende gebied van Polen en Wit-Rusland. De huidige situatie op beide locaties moet worden verbeterd: oplossingen op het gebied van afvalwaterbehandelingstechnologieën zijn energie- en kapitaalintensief. Ze zijn ontoereikend en leiden tot vervuiling van de rivieren Lasosna en Yaselda, die zich bevinden in waardevolle natuurgebieden van de Sokólskie-heuvels (PL) en het Sporovskyreservaat (BY). Vervuiling komt naar het grondwater, dan naar het oppervlaktewater, en verspreidt zich uiteindelijk op grote schaal over het grensgebied. Bovendien moet het milieubewustzijn van burgers en overheden worden vergroot en moeten toeristen worden aangemoedigd om deze regio’s te bezoeken, omdat het toeristische potentieel van deze locaties nog steeds onbenut blijft. Het doel van het project is deze negatieve tendensen te veranderen om de aantrekkelijkheid van beide locaties voor burgers en toeristen te verbeteren. De belangrijkste doelstellingen worden bepaald in het project. Het gaat om de modernisering van waterzuiveringsinstallaties, het vergroten van het bewustzijn van burgers en autoriteiten en het vergroten van de grensoverschrijdende kennisoverdracht. Deze doelstellingen zullen worden verwezenlijkt door middel van gezamenlijke grensoverschrijdende activiteiten van partners die resulteren in outputs zoals gemoderniseerde waterzuiveringsinstallaties, transnationale conferenties, publicatie en campagnes ter bevordering van het behoud van natuurlijk erfgoed. Van het project zullen alle groepen die met de gebieden verbonden zijn ten goede komen: burgers, ondernemers, landbouwers en overheden, alsook toeristen. Milieubescherming van grensoverschrijdende gebieden is een complexe kwestie die een complexe aanpak vergt. Grensoverschrijdende samenwerking is onvermijdelijk om alle doelstellingen te bereiken — transnationale bewustmaking en een nieuwe geest voor autoriteiten in grensoverschrijdende gebieden. De toegevoegde waarde van samenwerking zal een nieuw grensoverschrijdend begrip van milieukwesties door de begunstigden zijn. (Dutch)

La sfida principale del progetto comune per i partner consiste nel preservare più efficacemente il patrimonio naturale dell'area transfrontaliera della Polonia e della Bielorussia. La situazione attuale in entrambi i luoghi deve essere migliorata: le soluzioni nel campo delle tecnologie di trattamento delle acque reflue sono ad alta intensità energetica e di capitale. Sono insufficienti e provoca inquinamento dei fiumi Lasosna e Yaselda che si trovano in aree naturali preziose delle colline di Sokólskie (PL) e della riserva di Sporovsky (BY). L'inquinamento arriva alle acque sotterranee, poi alle acque superficiali, e infine si diffonde ampiamente nella zona di confine. Occorre inoltre sensibilizzare i cittadini e le autorità in materia di ecologia e incoraggiare i turisti a visitare queste regioni, poiché il potenziale turistico di tali località non è ancora sfruttato. Pertanto, lo scopo del progetto è quello di modificare questa tendenza negativa al fine di migliorare l'attrattiva delle località sia per i cittadini che per i turisti. Gli obiettivi principali sono determinati nel progetto. Si tratta della modernizzazione degli impianti di trattamento delle acque reflue, della sensibilizzazione dei cittadini e delle autorità e dell'aumento del trasferimento transfrontaliero delle conoscenze. Questi obiettivi saranno raggiunti attraverso attività transfrontaliere congiunte di partner che produrranno risultati quali impianti di trattamento delle acque reflue modernizzati, conferenze transnazionali, pubblicazione e campagne volte a promuovere la conservazione del patrimonio naturale. Il progetto beneficerà di tutti i gruppi che sono connessi con le aree: cittadini, imprenditori, agricoltori e autorità, nonché turisti. La protezione dell'ambiente delle zone transfrontaliere è una questione complessa che richiede un approccio complesso. La cooperazione transfrontaliera è inevitabile per raggiungere tutti gli obiettivi — sensibilizzare a livello transnazionale e dare un nuovo spirito alle autorità dello spazio transfrontaliero. Il valore aggiunto della cooperazione rappresenterà una nuova comprensione transfrontaliera delle questioni ambientali da parte dei beneficiari. (Italian)

El principal reto del proyecto común para los socios es preservar el patrimonio natural de la zona transfronteriza de Polonia y Bielorrusia de manera más eficaz. Es necesario mejorar la situación actual en ambos lugares: las soluciones en el ámbito de las tecnologías de tratamiento de aguas residuales son intensivas en energía y capital. Son insuficientes y da lugar a la contaminación de los ríos Lasosna y Yaselda que se encuentran en áreas naturales valiosas de las colinas de Sokólskie (PL) y la Reserva Sporovsky (BY). La contaminación llega a las aguas subterráneas, luego a las aguas superficiales, y finalmente se extiende ampliamente en la zona fronteriza. Además, es necesario aumentar la conciencia ecológica de los ciudadanos y las autoridades y animar a los turistas a visitar estas regiones, ya que aún no se aprovecha el potencial turístico de estos lugares. Así, el objetivo del proyecto es cambiar estas tendencias negativas para mejorar el atractivo tanto para los ciudadanos como para los turistas. Los objetivos principales se determinan en el proyecto. Es la modernización de las plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales, la sensibilización de los ciudadanos y las autoridades y el aumento de la transferencia transfronteriza de conocimientos. Estos objetivos se alcanzarán a través de actividades transfronterizas conjuntas de socios que se traduzcan en resultados tales como plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales modernizadas, conferencias transnacionales, publicaciones y campañas de promoción de la conservación del patrimonio natural. Del proyecto beneficiará a todos los grupos que están conectados con las áreas: ciudadanos, empresarios, agricultores y autoridades, así como turistas. La protección del medio ambiente de las zonas transfronterizas es una cuestión compleja que exige un enfoque complejo. La cooperación transfronteriza es inevitable para alcanzar todos los objetivos: concienciar transnacionalmente y dar un nuevo espíritu a las autoridades de las zonas transfronterizas. El valor añadido de la cooperación será una nueva comprensión transfronteriza de las cuestiones medioambientales por parte de los beneficiarios. (Spanish)
