ĆIRO old gauge railway use to be main connection line between areas in 3 countries HR,BH,MNE. Ever since this line was declared as non-profitable and its abolishment in 1970-ies, the remainings of railway infrastructure disappeared or were ruined(tracks, bridges, stations,”šenderhauzes”,etc) and parallel with this life slowly disappeared in these areas. Through project “Cycling Through the History–Revitalization of the Old Narrow Gauge Railway “ĆIRO” (ĆIRO I)”, ĆIROtrail was revitalised to large extent in the function of a cycling tourism trail in BH & HR area, hence the first step in bringing ĆIRO “back to life” has been undertaken. Through this project, the aim is to make a further step, not only in terms of improving its infrastructure and supporting facilities in function of tourism but also by including more countries (MNE,Boka-Kotorska bay) and by developing CB thematic tourism destination (CB TTD ĆIRO). By this the overall project objective will be achieved-to strengthened and diversified tourism offer of neighboring areas of Herzegovina, Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Boka-Kotorska bay through cross-border thematic tourism destination ĆIRO which will contribute to raising the number of visitor arrivals to project area and in extending the duration of their stay.
