Sustainability, digitization, technology, robotization and internationalization are developments that are changing the world at a rapid pace. And so professions are also evolving at a rapid pace. The corona crisis confirms once again that the labor market can turn quickly. In addition to an intensification of the use of technology, the pressure on the middle segment of the labor market will increase. The demand for higher and lower educated people will increase even faster than expected, while the demand for intermediately educated people will decrease. It is therefore important that students, workers, employers, educational institutions and governments can anticipate this in good time. With a data-driven, skills-oriented approach, Euregional parties Etil, Nalantis, LEO, Meet the Talents, VKW Limburg and Fontys are joining forces in this project to improve the functioning of the (training) infrastructure in Dutch and Belgian Limburg. This approach is not hindered by borders, diploma recognition, structures or other (inter)national obstacles. What seems like a mismatch can often be a perfect match if you look more closely at skills, whether or not supplemented with specific training. SkillsInzichtEuregio offers tools to help regions and organizations with this. For example, the project will develop an IT tool that demonstrates competencies and skills to guide someone in lifelong learning and development. It also wants to make it easier for young people to find their way to further education or the labor market. By looking at the labor market in an innovative way, the project provides a unique insight into the mismatch between supply and demand. Based on these insights, targeted investments can be made to better match supply and demand and thereby absorb future labor market shortages and surpluses. To this end, the project is also in line with existing initiatives, such as the Interreg Project Werkinzicht. (English)
