The local population living in the Hungary-Serbia border region, and the young especially, are not acquainted well enough with the region’s tourist potentials, and the cooperation between the young people of both countries is at a very low level. The causes of this are: the lack of information, skills and motivation. Development of tourism and cooperation in the border region can be achieved by organizing the common activities of the young people aimed at improvement and promotion of tourist potentials in both regions. The initial activity of the project is analysis of the situation in schools about the way of thinking, attitudes and needs of the young people in the border region via a survey followed by a panel discussion. Besides the school representatives, NGO representatives and members of local community will also be included in the discussion to observe the problems of young people. During the implementation of the project, there will be three intercultural student exchanges and a camp, with the aim of gaining new experiences, skills and sharing ideas. This way, the participants will actively participate in the development of the border region. A round table discussion is also planned informing the general public about the activities and achieved results. Both schools will modernize their ICT equipment which will allow them to improve the working conditions of young people and contribute to further communication and project sustainability as well as dissemination of the results. The partner-schools will also stimulate activism and volunteering among the young people, cultural exchanges, interactive workshops, visits, using modern technologies and exchanges of experiences especially in the field of promotion of cultural, environmental and recreational potential of the cross-border region. Informal methods of work and the contents which are appealing to the young will add to their bonding, diminishing the prejudices and growth in tolerance. The participants of the project will use latest technologies and innovation in work. Usage of the ICT technologies will help them develop awareness of sustainable development. Taking part in the cultural, environmental and sports events, they will help them raise their level of awareness about the importance of preserving the cultural heritage and environment as well as their sense of responsibility. They will have the opportunity to gain skills of adapting to different social and cultural situations and they will be motivated to organize their leisure time in more creative ways. Intensive cooperation of the students of two partner schools will support raising awareness of the harmful effect of prejudices. (English)
