"Accessible tourism is about making it easy for everyone to enjoy tourism experiences. Making tourism more accessible is not only a social responsibility – there is also a compelling business case for improving accessibility as it can boost the competitiveness of tourism in Europe." – EC DG Growth. Accessible tourism is a big market. In the frame of 18 months, this Project will ensure that persons with disabilities and limited mobility have access to two selected Special Nature Reserves in Banat, through establishing QUAD Social Enterprise. Accessible tourism, new service for people with limited mobility, which generates profit by engaging people with disabilities and elderly people as consumers of tourism destinations and products/services, will bring positive effect to cross-border area. The project partners will establish a social enterprise for providing innovative tourism service - touristic tour rides in Special Nature Reserves thus supporting inclusion of people with limited mobility. The project will use ATV vehicles, powered by renewable energies which are safe for the environment. Additionally, the project will include workshops between SMEs and research institutions for generating innovative solutions for ATVs and other services in nature reserves that will have a positive environmental impact. This project will have a strong innovative character. For the first time in the history of rural tourism in the border region, a social entrepreneurship which develops and promotes accessible tourism, powered by renewable innovative resources will be introduced. Social innovation is in setting up a service with the so-called "universal design”, suitable for all citizens, including all those who have particular accessibility needs, their families and friends. This way, environmentally friendly, accessible and sustainable social tourism businesses are created. (English)
