    A shared challenge in the area of the Program, which partners are going to face, is the necessity of better adjustment of current equipment and training for dangers present in the area, by retrofitting units with rescue equipment and shared exercises, which aim is also to tighten cooperation in the event of joint rescue operations. The aim of the project is: Increasing quality of the inhabitant’s life, through shared initiatives aimed at increasing security of people, property and environment in the cross border area of Poland and Belarus. Furthermore, retrofitting fire & rescue units as well as chemical & ecological rescue units will increase preparedness for the risk of ecological disaster arising from development of the chemical industry in the area. Main products of the project will be: Number of specialised cars bought by rescue services – 11. Number of institutions responsible for safety of cross-border cooperation – 6. Number of events concerned with improvement of safety and emergency situations – 2. Number of participants in the events connected with improvement of safety in emergency situations – 60. Rescue units from the areas of Siemiatycze District (Powiat) and Grodno Region (Oblast) will be main beneficiaries of the project. The project will be implemented in 4 areas of cooperation: joint preparation of the project, joint implementation, project personnel and join financing. It is important to implement the project with partners from Belarus in accordance with binding international agreement between Republic of Poland and Republic of Belarus regarding mutual help of rescue units between the countries in the event of disasters. The agreement authorizes firefighters to cross country border in the event of such disasters, and carrying out joint rescue operation. (English)
