The main objective of SEED2Sustain the North is to help traditional as well as sustainability-focused SMEs in northern Sweden and Finland, and Northern Ireland to broaden their market, by developing a digital and dynamic platform that will coordinate and encourage SMEs in finding new and innovative approaches to sustainable development. By providing assistance in building new partnerships, creating intra/inter-regional networks, and presenting sustainable innovation and concepts, SEED2Sustain the North will contribute to the distribution of know-how on doing good business in a more sustainable fashion toward a clear focus on circular economy and sustainable production and consumption. Local SMEs are challenged with maintaining a productive business as the demographic foundation and networking capabilities are lacking. Evidence suggests that sustainable businesses stand more robust and balanced against an uncertain and rocky economy. The aim is to raise the number of such businesses by increasing the available competence though a unique bottom-up approach, by coordinating the platform on which SMEs and the community themselves can develop and spread sustainable development. The long-term goal is becoming a sustainable, cohesive, and fossil-free region where also the rural areas and sparsely populated regions are living and thriving. (English)
