The overall objective of the project: to promote the knowledge of Latvian and Belarusian traditional culture, history and folklore and distribute it across the border, enhancing cooperation between cultural professionals. Special objectives: 1) to develop new approaches to elaboration and management of cultural space that serves to creative and cultural needs and facilitate collaboration; 2) to develop joint cultural events using the historical and cultural themes aimed at preserving and popularization of traditions and customs of the region. Daugavpils and Vitebsk are located in the border region have unique national traditions, and their conservation and strengthening occupies a significant role in the cultural and social life of both countries. Also different forms of folklore and popular tradition, both in the form of performing arts and of handicrafts, are closely connected to these cities. Beneficiaries: Latvian Centre of Culture (LV) and Centre of Culture Vitebsk (BY) are willing to unite their efforts for preservation and popularization of national culture, traditions, and history. The project activities will include: renovation of cultural infrastructure in Daugavpils and Vitebsk, purchase of new musical instruments, costumes and equipment for cultural actors of both cities, elaboration of a new concert programme and organization of concerts, establishment of new cultural spaces - Accordion Orchestra Cafe (LV) and Interactive Centre of Living History (BY), masterclasses for target groups of the project and experience exchange meetings for culture professionals of Daugavpils and Vitebsk.
