The aim of this project is to rectify the lack of cross-border cooperation the protection of species in the Upper Rhine Ramsar area. This leads to a loss of information, knowledge and expertise that not only has a negative impact on science and technology, but also results in additional costs for each country or structure. In practical terms, the project will seek to make optimum use of natural historical knowledge of 22 species of vertebrates present in the Upper Rhine area, compare and standardise research and monitoring protocols, and finally compare and harmonise conservation activities so that joint conservation programmes can be introduced and the cross-border cooperation among naturalists throughout the region can be improved.
