This individual project is concerned with the removal of barriers for people with a slight or medium requirement for assistance, who want to spend their holidays or travel on holiday in the Lake Constance area. The entire process of holiday travel will be considered, from deciding on the holiday destination, planning, travelling there and the guests’ stay including leisure activities, up to the return journey, as well as insurance and any settlement of health insurance. Being able to lead a self-determined life and staying in your own home as long as possible is particularly valuable to people who require support. Everyday tasks can quickly become a challenge with increasing age and the growing need for support, despite the help of professional and informal care persons (such as family members). It is at this point that the IBH Living Lab "Active and Assisted Living" intervenes. The objective of this research and innovation network, made up of a number of universities and practice partners from the Lake Constance region, is to develop "assistance systems for self-determined living” and to implement and test them under real conditions. In the IBH-Living lab, people who are starting to or already need support use various AAL products. In return, they and their family members or carers in the care home report on their experience with the products. These experiences are then included, for example, in the further development of products and services in the field of AAL or the building up of strategies, in order to find out how AAL products can best be made accessible to a wide public. The “Lake Constance as barrier-free tourism area” sets itself the objective of specifically minimising barriers as far as possible for holiday guests and travellers with a need for assistance, and maximising the satisfaction of these holiday guests and the people accompanying them in the Lake Constance area in a comprehensive sense. In the context of the project hotel rooms, among other places, will be equipped with the necessary assistance technology and will be extended into hotel living labs (HLLs). At the same time, the whole service for holidays and holiday travel for guests with a slight to medium need for assistance will be developed and implemented in a customer-orientated and iterative way.
