The main objective of the project is the improvement of the health care system in the cross-border area. It will be achieved through the development of a unified informative system that collects the necessary data in order to support the strategical design of health care providers in both sides of the cross-border area. The mapping of infrastructures and all kinds of resources, needs and health units aim to the development of a useful, unified database. The results of the program are expected to be beneficial in improving the health services provided in the cross-border area. It is well documented that cross-border areas face inherent problems regarding the involvement of residents in screening programs and health prevention programs, including the inclusion of vulnerable groups (the elderly and children) that are particularly difficult to achieve due to factors such as age, geography, ethnicity, culture, language, education, education and / or access to primary care. The main outputs of the project are the following: a) A Research study management tool, b) Mapping of infrastructures and resources, c) Three educational programs for the general population and health care professionals, d) A unified information system (e-platform) with three subsystems fully interconnected (an online clinicians’ recording system, a mobile application for clinicians with secure access to the electronic health record of the patients and an online system for clinicians’ search and schedule of appointments), e) A fully equipped mobile unit that will implement a pilot preventive health care program for breast cancer & gynecological issues for the women of the cross-border area.
