The PROSVASI act is a joint effort to strengthen the reduction of accessibility difficulties for both people with mobility problems and people with vision problems in areas of natural and cultural interest. This joint effort combines the knowledge of the problems of the disabled (Cyprus Paraplegics Association) as well as the knowledge of the problems of the local communities, in the light of the Local Government (Municipality of Syros - Ermoupolis, Limassol Development Company). It is noted that the target group is both people with mobility problems (eg elderly, pregnant, temporarily injured) as well as people with visual impairments who receive daily exclusion from areas of natural and cultural interest. The proposed actions aim at improving the accessibility, in places where there are restrictions (beaches, tourist attractions, amusement parks) in order to improve the attractiveness and competitiveness of the tourist product of the 2 islands and therefore the economic development of the cities that will be implemented. the interventions, in the direction, on the one hand of attracting a large target group, which to date is not approached holistically and on the other hand of the simultaneous improvement of the daily living conditions of their citizens with sustainable development and new services, outside visitors, Disabled people will also enjoy. The proposed ACCESS project invites the participating regions to develop a standard organizational and operational framework for strengthening and upgrading the tourism product. In this direction, the project has the following main axes: A. The Improvement of accessibility infrastructures in coastal and forest areas, B. The supply of equipment in areas of natural and cultural interest contributing to the accessibility of the disabled. C. Education and Training of agencies in matters of accessibility and its benefits in the tourism sector D. Joint actions of publicity and promotion of its results. Such actions are the organization of workshops and meetings on accessibility issues. Therefore, the achievement of the project's goal is expected to have wider implications for both the competitiveness and the quality of life of the residents and visitors of the area, providing an increased degree of access to public spaces, information and communication networks. The project, focusing on the upgrading of the tourism product through the creation of accessible infrastructure in tourist / cultural areas, is highly relevant to the National Smart Specialization Strategy of Cyprus and to the Smart Specialization Strategy of the South Aegean.
