The project aims to address the current challenges in maritime transport, which are due to regulatory changes identified in the areas of technology, economy, security and accessibility. The ports of Greece - Cyprus share a common European transport vision that serves national and international cross-border passenger and freight transport, as important factors of local and macro-regional socio-economic development. The project facilitates the legislative and structural harmonization of cross-border information exchange systems for maritime transport between ports. The aim is to create the infrastructure and the Emergency Management System of Ports and Port Facilities, which reflects the effort of the Administrations to provide the most effective crisis response and management plan, caused by any incident that could disrupt the daily smooth running of operations. Compliance with the Directive 2010/65 / EC of EU and Regulation 725/2004 concerns the harmonization of the required procedures, while avoiding further burden on shipping companies and organizations. The business interconnection creates a network between the partner ports, while at the same time strengthening the management capacity of each port in terms of monitoring port operation indicators and improving port efficiency and, subsequently, the overall competitiveness of ports. This further improves port access and emergency control procedures as well as related equipment through the creation of custom value-added services for passengers and carriers. This makes maritime transport more attractive compared to road transport. The project aims to address the administrative and customs barriers that continue to impose sanctions on intra-Community maritime transport. It is strategically important as: - The results cover the entire eligible territory and can be further extended. - establish common accessibility procedures and pave the way for future joint regional development efforts. - facilitates adaptation to European and international legislation; - Accelerates control procedures and reduces permeability. - creates long-term conditions and specific tools for cooperation between the two countries. - Can be reproduced. - Defines the results and the results of the previous programming period. - produces sustainable results over time - allows ports to make better use of current and future infrastructure. promotes the rational design of port facility systems in relation to the general objectives of national and European transport policies.
