Projektu sprendžiama problema - neigiamas poveikis aplinkai ir žmonių sveikatai, kurį sukelia nesutvarkyta teritorija Šilalės rajono savivaldybėje. Kraikų kaime, Šilalės rajone, yra apleisti ir seniai nebenaudojami pesticidų sandėlis ir beicavimo punktas. Lietuvos geologijos tarnyba kartu su UAB „Grota“ atliko ekogeologinius tyrimus ir nustatė, kad ši teritorija yra užteršta cheminėmis medžiagomis. Teritorijoje bendra pesticidų koncentracija paviršiniame grunte viršija didžiausią leistiną koncentraciją (toliau - DLK). Tirtoje teritorijoje šalia buvusio pesticidų sandėlio ir amoniako talpyklų teršiančių medžiagų (šiuo atveju chlororganinių pesticidų, nitratų, nitritų, amonio azoto ir fosfatų) koncentracija požeminiame vandenyje viršija DLK ir (arba) gali kelti pavojų požeminio vandens ištekliams (šiuo atveju gruntiniam vandeniui) ar kitoms ekosistemoms. Šis taršos šaltinis iki šiol nėra likviduotas ir į gamtinę aplinką gali patekti daugiau pesticidų. Dėl šios priežasties buvo nuspręsta, kad reikia šią teritoriją tvarkyti ir atlikti šiuos darbus: likviduoti buvusio pastato liekanas, nukasti ir išvežti utilizavimui užterštą gruntą. Projekto tikslinė grupė - Šilalės rajono savivaldybės gyventojai. Bendra tikslinės grupės apimtis 2019 m. - 22 410 gyventojų. Tikslinės grupės poreikis - mažesnis gyvenamosios aplinkos užterštumas, mažesnis pavojus sveikatai, įgyvendinamos priemonės aplinkos apsaugai Šilalės rajono savivaldybėje, užterštų teritorijų tvarkymas. Sutvarkius teritoriją ir likvidavus taršos šaltinį, esantį Kraikų k., Upynos sen., Šilalės rajone, bus ne tik pagerintas kraštovaizdžio estetinis vaizdas, bet ir teritorijos ekologinė būklė. The project solves the problem — negative impact on the environment and human health caused by an unmanaged area in Šilalė district municipality. In Kraikai village, Šilalė district, there is abandoned and long-term disused pesticide warehouse and treatment station. The Lithuanian Geological Service together with UAB Grota carried out ecogeological studies and found that the site is contaminated with chemicals. In the area, the total pesticide concentration in surface soil exceeds the maximum level (MRL). Concentrations of polluting substances (in this case chloroorganic pesticides, nitrates, nitrites, ammonium nitrogen and phosphates) in groundwater in the vicinity of the existing pesticide warehouse and ammonia containers in the area examined exceed the MRL and/or pose a risk to groundwater resources (in this case groundwater) or other ecosystems. This source of pollution has so far not been eliminated and more pesticides can be released into the natural environment. For this reason, it was decided that the site should be managed and carried out as follows: to dispose of the remnants of the former building, to remove and remove the contaminated soil for recovery. The target group of the project is the residents of Šilalė district municipality. The total size of the target group in 2019 was 22 410 inhabitants. The need for the target group is reduced contamination of the living environment, reduced health risks, implementation of measures for environmental protection in Šilalė district municipality, management of contaminated sites. After the site has been cleaned up and the pollution source, located in Kraikai village, Upynos sen., Šilalė district, will be improved not only will the aesthetic view of the landscape be improved, but also the ecological condition of the area will be improved.
