ALTEN is als consultancy en engineering organisatie werkzaam in uiteenlopende (niche-)markten van de hightech sector en de IT. Ze spelen een actieve rol in zaken als kwaliteit en betrouwbaarheid en innovaties op het gebied van Big Data en Internet of Things. Er werken ongeveer 700 medewerkers bij Alten Nederland, verdeeld over 4 kantoren. De medior technisch consultants van Alten ervaren dat zij als technisch professional veel inhoudelijke kennis en kwaliteiten bezitten met betrekking tot hun vakgebied, maar dat zij het lastig vinden om in de communicatie met klanten of collega’s hun boodschap over te brengen. Ze missen vaardigheden op het gebied van interactie met klanten die belangrijk zijn in hun rol als consultant. Dit betreft praktische vaardigheden als het presenteren van jezelf en het bedrijf, jezelf pro-actief opstellen, je boodschap met impact overbrengen en het aansluiten op verschillende persoonstypes. Doordat het de consultants vaak ontbreekt aan vaardigheden op het gebied van communicatie met klanten, merken zij dat ze zelfvertrouwen missen en een intrinsieke terughoudendheid vertonen in de interactie met klanten en collega’s. De doelstelling van dit project is het ontwikkelen van communicatie- en adviesvaardigheden van de medior technisch consultants zodat zij zichzelf optimaal kunnen ontwikkelen in hun rol als consultant. Door het ontwikkelen van deze vaardigheden kunnen de medior technisch consultants verder op lange termijn doorgroeien naar senioriteit in de gewenste functie als architect, technisch specialist of project manager. Alten works as a consultancy and engineering organisation in a wide range of (niche) markets of the high-tech sector and IT. They play an active role in issues such as quality and reliability and innovations in Big Data and Internet of Things. There are about 700 employees at Alten Nederland, divided over 4 offices. Alten’s mid-technical consultants experience that, as a technical professional, they have a lot of substantive knowledge and qualities in their field of expertise, but that they find it difficult to convey their message in communication with customers or colleagues. They lack skills in interacting with customers that are important in their role as a consultant. This concerns practical skills such as presenting yourself and the company, preparing yourself proactively, conveying your message with impact and connecting to different types of people. Because the consultants often lack skills in communication with customers, they notice that they lack self-confidence and have an intrinsic reluctance to interact with customers and colleagues. The objective of this project is to develop communication and advisory skills of the mid-tech consultants so that they can optimally develop themselves in their role as a consultant. By developing these skills, the mid-term technical consultants can continue to grow into seniority in the desired position as an architect, technical specialist or project manager. (English)
