La actuación propuesta permitirá a la Estación de Ciencias Mariñas de Toralla dotarse de nuevas infraestructuras y equipamientos para fortalecer la prestación de servicios comunes, concretamente permitirá a la ECIMAT dotarse de de la principal (sinó la única) instalación avanzada para la investigación en mesocosmos de la Península Ibérica y una de las pocas ubicadas en una zona de afloramiento costero a nivel mundial, este tipo de instalaciones resultan fundamentales para realizar estudios del metabolismo planctónico, fundamental en el control de la biogeoquímica oceánica, los intercambios de gases océano-atmósfera y la regulación del clima. Permitirá además el desarrollo del servicio de criopreservación de organismos marinos, se trata de una de las principales contribuciones de ECIMAT al EMBRC (infraestructura ESFRI) y facilitará la incorporación del centro al principal crio-banco de organismos marinos a nivel mundial junto con otras colecciones participantes en EMBRC. La criopreservación es una herramienta fundamental para el desarrollo de la Biotecnología, una de las Tecnologías Facilitadoras Esenciales (TFEs). Por último fortalecerá el servicio de Acceso a los Ecosistemas Costeros de la ECIMAT mediante la sustitución de la actual embarcación neumática que ha prestado servicio durante 24 años. (Spanish)

The proposed action will allow the Mariñas Science Station of Toralla to equip itself with new infrastructures and equipment to strengthen the provision of common services, specifically allowing the Ecimat to equip itself with the main (without the only) advanced facility for research in mesocosmos of the Iberian Peninsula and one of the few located in a coastal outcrop area worldwide, this type of facility is fundamental to carry out studies of planktonic metabolism, fundamental in the control of ocean biogeochemistry, exchanges of ocean-atmosphere gases and climate regulation. It will also allow the development of the service for the cryopreservation of marine organisms, it is one of the main contributions of Ecimat to EMBRC (ESFRI infrastructure) and facilitate the incorporation of the centre to the main cryo-bank of marine organisms worldwide together with other collections participating in EMBRC. Cryopreservation is a fundamental tool for the development of Biotechnology, one of the Essential Facilitating Technologies (TFEs). Finally, it will strengthen the service of Access to the Coastal Ecosystems of the Ecimat by replacing the current pneumatic vessel that has served for 24 years. (English)
