The Habitation La Favorite was created in 1842. Before being the distillery known today, L’Habitation La Favorite produced cane sugar. In 1905, Henri Dormoy bought the Habitation La Favorite from Mr. Charles Henri. At that time, it was not yet a distillery but a sugar factory. Henri Dormoy then turned the sugar factory into an agricultural distillery. It was upon the purchase of the distillery by Henri Dormoy that the distillery was modernised and transformed into a distillery. It is then equipped with a steam machine, still in service today. It is the only distillery in Martinique that still operates completely by steam. His son, André Dormoy, bought the shares of the distillery from his brothers and sisters and continued family activity. At his death in 2000, Paul Dormoy, his son and current manager, took over the estate of La Favorite distillery. He is associated with his brothers and sisters, and is the manager of the company. So it’s a family company. In 2006, Franck Dormoy, one of Paul Dormoy’s sons, joined the La Favorite distillery team to perpetuate the tradition by learning the wonderful profession of agricultural rum production. With the Neisson distillery it is the second family distillery, among the 7 who smoke today. Through the know-how and passion transmitted from generation to generation, the DORMOY family continues to distill about 600,000 litres of rum per year with the utmost respect for traditio (English)
