La necesidad de entender y predecir la evolución del sistema climático en todas sus escalas espacio- temporales, ha propiciado la creación del denominado Sistema Global de Observaciones del océnano, cuyo principal componente es la red de observación Argo. Argo está constituida por 3500 perfiladores oceánicos, que permiten determinar, en tiempo presente, el estado físico de los 2000 m más superficiales del océano, siendo además todos los datos de acceso libre y gratuito de manera inmediata y para cualquier usuario. Argo estás impulsada por la Organización Meteorológica Mundial (WMO) y la Comisón Oceanográfica Intergubernamental (IOC), entre otros. Desde el punto de vista europeo, el interés y necesidad de esta red quedó avalada al haberse constituido la contribución europea a esta red, Euro-Argo, como European Research infrastructure en 2015, siendo España miembro del ERIC Euro-Argo desde 2017. _x000D_ Si bien, Argo es una colaboración internacional y por lo tanto los acuerdos que llevaron a su creación dan cobertura científica, y avalan la calidad del proyecto pero no la financian en sí, y son los países interesados en participar los responsables de contribuir a la , implementación del programa a través de la financiación de sus programas nacionales. Dentro de este marco, la presente propuesta se plantea como la actualización y mejora de la contribución española al sostenimiento de la red de observación Argo. (Spanish)

The need to understand and predict the evolution of the climate system at all spatio-temporal scales has led to the creation of the so-called Global Ocean Observation System, whose main component is the Argo network. Argo is constituted by 3500 oceanic buoys, which allow to determine, in real time, the physical state of the top 2000 m of the ocean. All Argo data is free and made public immediately for any user. Argo is supported by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), among others. From the European point of view, the interest and necessity of this network is evident since the European contribution to Argo, Euro-Argo, has been established as European Research infrastructure in 2015, with Spain being a member of ERIC Euro-Argo since 2017. Argo is an international collaboration and therefore the agreements that led to its creation provide scientific coverage, and endorse the quality of the project, but do not finance it, and the countries interested in participating are those responsible for contributing to the implementation of the project, through its national funding agencies. Within this framework, the present proposal is proposed as the continuation of the Spanish contribution to sustain the Argo observation network, requesting the acquisition of 25 Argo profilers. The experience of the team that, from the IEO, coordinate Argo-Spain, supports the viability of this proposal. (English)
