The focus of the GreenSan project is directed to the topics of resources, efficiency and quality in renovation. These topics should of course influence the planning and implementation of renovation projects in the future, and thereby ensure the comprehensive sustainability of projects. Conditions (accommodation quality, mobility behaviour and land and energy consumption) will all be literally cemented in the long term via construction decisions. The time scales for decisions and implementation are long; once construction measures are applied, another 30-40 years often pass before the execution of new measures. It is all the more important that potential is tapped and implemented in the best possible way in building renovation. Unfortunately, these have been far from sufficiently exploited due to the absence of an integral, cross-generational view (key words - shortage of land and an ageing society) and a quality-led approach. Nor have public and private money, resources and workforces been deployed to their best. This not only affects the area of the project but it is also a phenomenon that can be observed generally. The focus of the GreenSan project is on the topics of resources, efficiency and quality in renovation. This innovative approach clearly distinguishes the project from projects and measures previously carried out in the field of construction, whereby the focus was on renewable energy and energy-efficiency, and which left out other aspects. This is therefore about the integration of these topics into the training and further training of construction and energy specialists • As a means of qualification • To counter the lack of specialists in the field of construction • To contribute to quality assurance in construction • To ensure the required expertise is available for good sustainable renovations. This means that new ways are also explored online. E-learning and webinars represent a cost-effective range for further training that can be conducted anywhere, and which should above all facilitate access for young people too. On the other hand, the initiation and preparation of best practice examples with a focus on the abovementioned topics should demonstrate alternative implementation options. The data derived from this can be included in the development of databases, tools and evaluation options, and ensure they can be applied in practice. These tools enable the inclusion of the topics of resources and efficiency in the daily work of advisers and planners, and ultimately facilitate consultation with customers and implementation in practice. Public relations measures also form a framework for the project, ensuring the dissemination of the GreenSan topic areas to end clients as well as to other market participants and decision-makers. At the same time, these measures help to create awareness of the relevance of resources in the field of construction. It is only through the joint consideration of the efficiency of resources, economy and quality – with a view to developing accommodation and the long-term and adaptable usability of the objectives – that sustainable renovations can be achieved.
