The common challenge that Tutrakan and Oltenita are jointly tackling with the current project proposal is to improve the sustainable use of the common cultural heriatge and by development of modern tourist attractions and exhibitions to increase the tourist flow in the two regions Silistra and Calarasi. The overall objective of the project is to enhance the existing cultural potential which is undervalued and underutilized in order to strengthen the economy and increase the number of tourist visits and overnights by developing modern cultural attractions. The project objective: Conversion of common historical events and sites in a unifying historical symbol for a better and sustainable future. Making the common cultural and historical heritage into an instrument for the development of sustainable cultural tourism. Results: 1. Developed information and VR exhibition spot Tutrakan Epic. 2. Improved tourist environment and VR exhibition spot - Oltenita. 3. Developed Tourist strategy. 4. Created two integrated tourist products. 5. Created functioning tourist information portal . 6. Published catalogues and brochures related to the cultural sites and events. The outputs of the project, their modern and attractive character and national importance of the historical heritage represented in them will have a significant role in increasing the tourist area of the two municipalities. In respect with the programme they are as follows: 1. Two integrated tourism products created. 2. Developed a common strategy for valorising (including raising awareness) the cultural heritage through its restoration and promotion for sustainable economic uses. The VR exposition in Tutrakan will be a maximum real representation of part of the battle actions during the Battle of Tutrakan. With the means of modern cinematography and computer effects, the visitor will feel like a real participant in the events. We envisage a 360 degree shooting, uninterrupted 10-minute film sequence in which actors, stunts, statistics and film requisites of the original locations where the events took place in 1916, moments from the attack will be presented as well. The viewer will have the opportunity to experience the event as a participant and not as a subjective observer. The virtual presentation will take place in a dedicated space with the latest generation of VR Headsets, allowing both 3D visual and acoustic perception. Using this technology will be attracted the young audiences for which this is a partly familiar and desirable technology, on the other hand, they will be able to experience the museum exposition in a new and innovative way. The VR presentation of the newly-built museum in Oltenitsa will give a boost to the popularization and digitization of museum exposition and will become a kind of attraction and experience for the general public. Digital information on the exhibits as well as visualization of objects as well as information unsuitable for the museum exhibition will be provided. Here, VR Headsets will also be used to give a 3D presentation experience. In 2015, visitors to local cultural and historical sites in the municipality of Tutrakan are 4350 and in 2016 they are 6479 . Growth in visits over the years is about 10% and is unsustainable. With the development of innovative VR cultural products, the development of tourism products and integrated communication campaign and three common exhibitions is expected sustainable growth of at least 15% for the period after completion of the project, which for 2023 allows us to predict about 10000 visitors in the Municipality of Tutrakan and minimum 5000 in the Municipality of Oltenita. The Increase in expected number of visits to supported sites of cultural and natural heritage and attraction is around 15000. During the project will be created two tourist products: 1. On the basis of the proposed tourist mobility packages built around the established cultural and historical products will be developed "structured" integrated tourist product for cultural tourism. Which will be promoted via two exhibitions in Tutrakan and Oltenita. 2. At the same time the rich database that will be maintained on the developed portal under the project, cultural and historical heritage of the region promotion and the constructed under the project cultural and historical sites will be prerequisites for increased visit of tourists wishing to enjoy the local culture and history, thereby forming "unstructured" tourist product for unorganized tourism, as the the region will bwcome a symbol of the common history of the two nations. Number of integrated tourism products/services created - 2. In a separate activity, under the project will be developed a common tourism strategy for the sustainable use of the cultural and historical heritage of the region and development of cultural tourism and tourist mobility. The programe indicator that the project contributes to is Number of common strategies, policies or management plan (English)
