The project focuses on the many challenges the region faces, mainly on the bad condition of cultural monuments, poor tourist infrastructure, absence of cultural and religious events and other immaterial tourist events to attract visitors. The activities under the project are divided into 3 thematic parts forming a whole aim to respond to the said challenges. As part of renovation tasks covering the cultural monuments of Spišské Podhradie, the national cultural monument of the Bishop’s Garden, which is currently a part of the Municipal Monument Reserve, will be revitalised for the purpose of cultural and spiritual projects and joint cross-border events between the partners. Renovation of monuments in the city is related to expert work carried out at two monuments of the Spiš Jerusalem – the St. Francis Xavier and St. Rosalia chapels. In Głogów Małopolski, renovation and improvement of infrastructure will cover the revitalisation of the main market, which is a cultural monument and one of the largest markets in Poland. The market square which is a venue for cultural events and gatherings will be renovated in line with the recommendations given by conservator-restorers in order to create a space for common cultural and religious events. In order to improve the quality of tourist infrastructure, a car park with a direct connection to the Bishop’s Garden is planned in the vicinity of such monuments as the Spišská Kapitula or Spiš Jerusalem. The high visitor traffic at this monument complex is conditioned upon the common organisation of cultural and religious events, which is hindered due to the lack of a car park for visitors. This is why the project provides for the construction of a car parking space. The last thematic part involves common cultural and religious undertakings carried out by all partners. The planned activities will improve the conditions for the development of tourism in the support area and create a shared tourist offer of the cross-border area. (English)
