PIMReC aims at building strong cooperation between Polish and Ukrainian institutions by jointly meeting challenge in improving security of the high mountain tourism by taking a series of activities directed to this aim, namely: - reconstruction and structural adaptation of former astronomical and meteorologic observatory on the Pope Ivan mountain (Chernohora Range, Carpathian Mountains) to the needs of high mountain rescue service training center as well as rescue station functioning all the year round; - development of top-notch joint Polish-Ukrainian trainings for high mountain rescuers with special attention to up-todate rescue techniques in different weather conditions including case studies; - forming mechanisms for emergency response and ways of interaction with relevant services in case of tourists’ life and health hazards; - creation of electronic services platform as an effective information resource on the one hand for the exchange of experience and training materials between Polish and Ukrainian high mountain rescue teams and on the other hand a tool to inform tourists about preventive measures of being in the high mountain area, safety roots and meteorologic forecast. The abovementioned activities will improve the professional level of high mountain rescuers and volunteers in Ukraine and Poland, contribute to the development of complex high mountain rescue system, extend the cooperation between all the participants of the project, increase the awareness of the cross-border community about safety measures and safety tourist routs. Close cooperation of Polish and Ukrainian emergency rescue services will result in the elaboration of unified operating standards and in the longer term on both sides of the border will enable the coordination of rescue actions and preventive measures.
