Over the last years, a tendency for off-shoring of jobs in traditional manufacturing has been experienced in the German-Danish border region. However, prospects exist for maintaining regional competiveness in manufacturing by means of new production systems and revised supply chain management approaches. On this background the overall objective of the InProReg project is to maintain and further develop innovative and competitive manufacturing in the German-Danish cross-border region, especially in small and medium sized enterprises. This is achieved through enhancement of modern automated production systems and innovative approaches to product development. In a regional cross-sectorial platform project initiative related to innovative manufacturing, InProReg creates a stronger basis for German-Danish production within energy, food, welfare tech, etc. In doing so the project is structured in two parts with the following specific objectives: • Building knowledge for innovative manufacturing: develop application-oriented concepts for adaptive, resource-efficient and automated production systems; define models for innovative product development; analyse German-Danish production position. • Supporting business within cross-border production: improve manufacturing competencies; develop innovative technology demonstrators; facilitate new innovation projects; support activities in network and clusters. The InProReg main results created with focus on the needs of especially small and medium sized manufacturing companies comprise: • A cross-border network for application-oriented vocational as well as higher education and training. • Improved research-based and application-oriented knowledge on innovative manufacturing. • Demonstrators of innovative manufacturing technologies . • Cross-sectorial networking activities focusing on manufacturing. • New innovation projects.
