There is a clear lack of administrative capacity to cooperate and network at cross-border level for drafting and implementing relevant projects for the diversification of local economies through eco-tourism, a key sector given the resources of the area. The project aims at increasing the capacity of CBA public administration and civil society to identify measures for eco-tourism development, find EU financing sources, draft and implement successfully the resulting cross-border projects. To support this capacity building, the project aims at better integrating local administrations into EUSDR relevant networks of administrations and experts. Overall budget: 749423.85 EUR. In order to achieve these objectives the project will organize 6 series of trainings as the core activities to train local human resources – the Danube Officers. Practical applications of the trainings will be done during familiarization trips and by creating 10 eco-tourism products, while an eco-tourism conference and landscape contest will bring the CBA and the best eco-tourism experts and landscape planners into closer contact. A series of communication and visibility actions will draw the attention of the general public and of other EUSDR areas to CBA eco-tourism potential and its new Danube Officers. The result will be a new cross-border network of public administrators and civil society stakeholders – the Danube Officers – that has the tools to implement projects for eco-tourism development in the CBA.
