This project aims at the cross-border valorization of the floating channel “Schwarzenbergischer Schwemmkanal” which is an element of cultural heritage. It represents a cultural monument of international importance, as well as the natural heritage upland moor “Bayrische Au”. The investments are designed to promote the sustainable development of environmental awareness and the preservation of the cultural and natural heritage. To increase the protection and sustainable development of the natural and cultural heritage, the improvement of the accessibility of the natural and cultural heritage, of which some parts were previously inaccessible, should be ensured. The main achievements of the project include the valorization of part of the cultural monument of international importance, the Schwarzenberg floating Canal, and improving its accessibility. Another element is the enabled access and the valorization of the upland moor Bayrische Au in the form of an educational trail in the upland moor on a barrier-free footbridge. In addition, a hydrological renovation is necessary. Furthermore, it is necessary to make the public aware of the importance of the protection of the common natural and cultural heritage for the next generations. The valorization of the Schwarzenberg floating channel, as well as accessibility of the natural heritage Bayrische Au for the public, underlines the historically important function of water in the region, which has also contributed significantly to the development of this mountained cross border area.
