The innovative performance in the German-Dutch border region remains behind the international developments. Sensor technology is a key technology for the development of innovative, future-oriented products, services and processes for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). However, the access and handling of the technical expertise needed is complex for SMEs. The Institute for Dual Studies at the University of Osnabrück at the Lingen site and the Hanzehogeschool at the Groningen site have initiated the ID3AS project with the aim of continuously developing the diverse fields of application of sensor technology in the border region and opening up them to regional enterprises. The ID3AS project has the following unique features: ID3AS provides cross-border support to the regional economy in the development of innovative sensor technology and its applications and application systems. Concrete measurement problems are taken up by the local knowledge partners, the technological gap is identified by ID3AS, analyzed for technological and economic solvency and a development plan for the practical implementation in the company is developed. Key projects are initiated for selected highly complex problems and innovation projects that are of great strategic importance to companies and the region in terms of sensor technology development and application systems, and which are significant innovations for the user. These projects are interdisciplinary in consortia from several companies and knowledge institutions. Practical knowledge of operational application systems and scientific expertise are gathered from the participating knowledge partners. The aim is to develop balanced, practical system solutions based on the latest state of knowledge with a high degree of sustainability. (English)
