The general objective of the project is to break the vicious circle of poverty and exclusion caused by lack of education, qualification, job, decent living conditions, access to social services, for 560 people from the marginalised community with Roma population in Budesti, Buciumeni, Gruiu, Prozi, through integrated interventions designed to address the underlying factors of inequality. The project “I want to exchange!” addresses both children, adults, elderly people and people with disabilities, inclusive Roma, comprehensively addressing the needs of people in poverty and social exclusion, because only by supporting everyone, in an integrated way, the community can emerge from marginalisation and have a sustainable development. Through direct, personalised counseling, by improving the conditions of education, after school sessions, professional guidance, qualification, support for finding a job or opening a business, regulating property documents, improving living conditions, socio-medical assistance, granting grants, the project “I want to exchange!” will restore the people in the target group their self-esteem, social status as an active member of the community, activating their capacities to help themselves and help their fellows. In addition, the anti-discrimination campaign will strengthen these effects, changing negative mentalities, disabling templates that do not give any chance of developing poor and Roma people. Achieving the general objective of the project will generate long-term positive effects both in social and economic terms by giving added value to all parties involved: the members of the target group, the school units in these areas, the local administration through the development of social and socio-medical services, the employers of Budesti city and proximity who will be able to benefit from the skilled labour force, the inhabitants of Budesti – the future beneficiaries of the products/services developed by setting up new enterprises within the project. The community of Budesti, as a whole, will benefit indirectly from the results of the project through the transition of at least 90 people at risk of poverty and social exclusion from the condition of dependence on social assistance to that of employee or employer, transition which will have a positive influence on the local budget. As far as the target group members are concerned, the project will bring them major long-term benefits. For 285 people who are not working, but who are fit for work (of whom 76 Roma) the major benefit will be to capitalise on the potential of the workforce, by creating the conditions for increasing the level of participation in the labour market, access to quality jobs and the development of small enterprises that, in turn, will generate jobs. For 160 children (of which 38 ethnicities (English)
