The partners in this project are two basketball organizations from Hungary and from Serbia whose mission is fostering healthy engagement of young people. Promotion of basketball, team spirit and healthy living in the society are the primary principles of the leadership of the two basketball clubs. The purpose of the project is to build up such an institutional frame which will foster the long-term cooperation between the communities, by making sustainable investments in young people from the neighbouring countries. The project’s main objective is establishing a cross-border framework which facilitates the social inclusion and provides opportunities for cooperation through active engagement of young people from the border area in sports activities. The main target group of the project in both countries are young basketball players from the age groups 2003/2004 and 2005/2006, who will directly participate in all activities and events. Additionally, adult players from two countries, who participate in sports events, will be involved in the training of young players. Sport experts, coaches, PE teachers, sport managers from both countries are the knowledge-based target group. Project consists of the following main activities: Basketball tournaments for two age groups. The total of six tournaments will be organized in both countries; Seminars (advance training) for trainers and teachers will be held on two occasions in both countries; Joint training camps for the two age groups. One of it will be organized in Hódmezővásárhely and the other one in Subotica; Family leisure days/weekends and Outdoor street ball events – one in Serbia and one in Hungary; Promotional training with Serbian coach and players will be organized for school children in Vásárhely, Hungary. Through implementation of these activities, this project will strengthen connections between the communities of the two neighbouring countries, especially when it comes to children, and thus significantly contribute to the long-term goals of the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Hungary-Serbia.
