The pastoral Pyrenean territory is a major asset for mountain farmhouses, which are used to be constrained by a property located in the valley bottoms. This resource allows them to expand the areas and periods for pasture of the herds, which is very important for the Pyrenean livestock system and offers new technical and installation opportunities in mountain areas. PYRPASTUM project aims to promote this consistency energizing pastoral Pyrenean areas and agricultural employment by combining the expertise and skills on the territory. First of all, a group of actions will aim to strengthen the cross-border network and training plans for breeders, shepherds and cowherds specialized employment (common training, trainee’s exchanges, technical cross-border work camps). Secondly, another group of actions will aim to develop tools to promote insertion and territory projects (pasture conventions, collective cross-border convention, job platform), and to communicate on the positive impacts of these practices for the economic development, conservation and recognition of local diversity and heritage. These issues have a Pyrenean dimension and the achievement of these objectives needs the implementation of actions in the whole Pyrenean area, promoting exchanges and mobility between youngsters on training and the agricultural sector professionals.
