LYSIS overall objective is to integrate socio-climatic changes into sustainable urban water management by designing a smart system which will identify and process the alterations repeatedly. The dual nature of the project lies at the fact that LYSIS applies two approaches adjusted to the specific needs of each beneficiary: in the Municipalities of Pavlos Melas and Blagoevgrad, LYSIS purpose is to save water through smart irrigation systems, while in Drama LYSIS plans to economize water while making excess water available for utilization. Irrigation water is a primary concern of the EU SWITCH programme, and the first LYSIS approach focuses on urban water management optimization through irrigation water reduction. Reduced environmental footprint is combined with the aesthetic and recreational services provided by urban green spaces. (English)
