The alpine wild rivers were used for centuries as traffic arteries, linking the everyday life of many people across national borders. This linking element of the natural diversity of forest- and river-habitats as well as the related cultural history forms the thematic heart of the project. The so far underrepresented complex of topics wood-use-forest-ecology shall be comprehensively valued in a time travel and made usable for the tourism through a network of professional tours (historical and ecological) in the Natura 2000 areas Karwendel and Mangfallgebirge, based on common concepts and strategies for tourist development and didactic preparation of the topic, by networking with similar institutions in the border region of Bavaria-Tyrol (already 21 institutions have expressed interest) and by building and public access to a database of researched knowledge. The establishment of cross-border cooperation, the natural and cultural heritage should be made accessible and sustainable by the joint development of tourism concepts in value. (English)
