In Innovating - inspired by nature, new, sustainable, concrete innovations are realized in various cross-border SME branches and thus greatly improve the innovative strength of SMEs. Due to the increasing awareness of Biomimicry as a new development principle and the already established German/Dutch biomimicry network, this project focuses specifically on the development of the 'II.2 Work Packages, b. Stimulating product innovation described 8 prototypes with the collaboration of the formed Biomimicry consortium consisting of knowledge institutions and regional project coordinators. Harvesting water from the air such as the desert beetle, saving weight by analysing bones (lightweight construction), energy-efficient cooling based on the heat regulation of animals and an anchoring mechanism such as applicated by tooth shells. These and other special innovations are inspired by nature and realised in the INTERREG project Biomimicry in SMEs. For 4 billion years, nature has developed many solutions for technological problems ranging from locomotion to detection and from pumps to coatings. Solutions that have proven themselves in practice ("proven technology") and have proven to be very useful for the development of new products. Biomimicry is an innovation method that uses this proven technology as a source of inspiration for creative, innovative solutions. (English)
