Αντικείμενο του έργου αποτελεί η ολοκληρωμένη παρέμβαση στο Εμπορικό Τρίγωνο, του Κέντρου της Αθήνας, η οποία θα λειτουργήσει ως πρότυπο ανάλογων μελλοντικών παρεμβάσεων.Το Εμπορικό Τρίγωνο επιλέχθηκε, διότι αποτελεί το ιστορικό εμπορικό κέντρο της πόλης, μία περιοχή πύκνωσης οικονομικών δραστηριοτήτων, με πλήθος κτιρίων που αποτελούν δείγμα της αρχιτεκτονικής κληρονομιάς των νεώτερων χρόνων. Πρόκειται για ένα τμήμα του κέντρου που αποτελεί στο σύνολό του τοπόσημο της πόλης, με αυξανόμενη τουριστική ελκυστικότητα, αλλά ταυτόχρονα παρουσιάζει σημαντικά προβλήματα υποβάθμισης ως προς την εικόνα και λειτουργία του δημόσιου χώρου. Η ολοκληρωμένη παρέμβαση στο Εμπορικό Τρίγωνο, είναι καθοριστικής σημασίας για την αναπτυξιακή προοπτική του, ενώ λόγω της σημασίας και της θέσης της περιοχής παρέμβασης, αυτή θα λειτουργήσει θετικά και για το σύνολο του Κέντρου της Αθήνας.
