Η ανάπλαση της περιοχής του Παλαιού Λιμεναρχείου στα «Παλαιά του Βόλου θα περιλαμβάνει παρεμβάσεις διαμόρφωσης οδών σε δρόμους ήπιας κυκλοφορίας, διαπλάτυνση πεζοδρομίων, ανακατασκευή πλακοστρώσεων των υφιστάμενων πεζοδρομίων, δημιουργία στοιχείων εξυπηρέτησης ΑμεΑ και τοποθέτηση αστικού εξοπλισμού, με στόχο την αναβάθμιση των κοινόχρηστων χώρων και του αστικού περιβάλλοντος, την ενίσχυση της βιώσιμης κινητικότητας, την αύξηση των χώρων κυκλοφορίας για τους πεζούς, την εξασφάλιση της προσβασιμότητα των ΑμεΑ και ατόμων με άλλα κινητικά προβλήματα, τον περιορισμό της ατμοσφαιρικής ρύπανσης και της ηχορύπανσης και τη γενικότερη αναζωογόνηση της περιοχής παρέμβασης.Ειδικότερα οι παρεμβάσεις αφορούν: α) διαμόρφωση σε δρόμους ήπιας κυκλοφορίας, των οδών Μητροπολίτη Γρηγορίου (από την Γρ. Λαμπράκη έως την οδό Πυράσσου), Μελούνας, Σαρανταπόρου (από την οδό Μητροπολίτη Γρ. έως την οδό Φερρών) β) ανάπλαση υφιστάμενων πεζοδρομίων με πρόβλεψη οριζόντιας ή/και κατακόρυφης προσβασιμότητας με επέκταση των πεζοδρομίων εκατέρωθεν της οδού Μητροπολίτη Γρηγορίου (από την οδό Σαρανταπόρου έως την οδό Γρ. Λαμπράκη), γύρω από τον αρχαιολογικό χώρο, εκατέρωθεν της οδού Γρ. Λαμπράκη (από την οδό Μελούνας έως την οδό Μητροπολίτη Γρηγορίου), εκατέρωθεν της διάβασης στη Γρ.
