Musical territories
Property / summary

Objectives: The regions of Miranda Land and Zamora are low-density territories, with activities predominantly in the primary (agriculture) and tertiary sectors (services and tourism) and where tourism, already with some expression in the local economy, is an activity with clear development potential. The attractiveness of tourism is the landscape, cultural and natural heritage, gastronomy and ethnographic traditions. The ethnographic, linguistic and symbolic elements are one of the factors, due to their specificity, in the context of the NUT II regions in which the region is located (NORTE and CASTELA AND LEÃO), with more significance in the attraction of visitors to the region. In this context, the ethno-musical heritage (Pauliteiros de Miranda do Douro, gaita de foles, musical groups such as “Galandum, Galundaina”, Interceltic Music Festival) is even the main symbolic element of this region, so that the development of study and promotion actions in this theme will always compensate for the increase in the flow of visitors to the region. This project will work on the recovery, conservation and enhancement of the Intangible Heritage related to the music of Zamora (Castilla y León, Spain) and the Land of Miranda (Portugal) through the systematic collection and dissemination of testimonies that preserve the soundness of the musical memory of this territory. Activities: 1 Investigate and recover. 2 Keep it. 3 Knowing and disseminating. 4 Appreciate. 5 Gestión y Coordinación. 6 CommunicaciÃ3n. Results: Creation of the methodology for the recovery of Intangible Heritage related to the musical heritage and oral tradition of Zamora and the Land of Miranda; fieldwork for the collection of oral testimonies and recompilation of information in a database prepared for this purpose. Creation of a methodology for the conservation of the entire collected material. Processes of basic investigation of the material obtained and promotion of networking with other agents. Valorisation of all this material through the elaboration of a corporate image, press releases, design of a public part of the Database (Web), cycles of debates and conferences, editing of didactic materials and awareness in schools, specialised training courses, organised international congresses, participation in congresses and specialised and divulative forums, editing of dissemination and specialised publications in paper and DVD formats, publication of articles in specialised journals. Acquisition of musical instruments that expand the permanent collections of the Miranda Land Museum and the Castilla y León Ethnographic Museum. Production of a temporary itinerant exhibition (Zamora, Mirando do Douro and Porto) related to the popular and traditional music of both geographical areas. Production, editing and installation of an interactive museographic space for the dissemination, promotion and knowledge of traditional music in both territories. Create new dynamics of public participation related to music based on the organisation of music festivals in Zamora, Miranda do Douro and Porto. Development of digital tools for recording and promoting musical heritage. Construction of collaborative and public website for safeguarding and disclosure. Development of content for installation of multimedia kiosks in museums. (English)

(Portuguese)
