Several observations are at the basis of the FORET PRO BOS project, starting with the growing concern of local wood processing companies about the lack of reforestation that puts their supply in jeopardy. Added to this is the overly inaccurate quantification of the timber resource produced in the territory, but also outside the forest, and the fact that forest land is increasingly fragmented with a multitude of small landowners, which complicates its management. Finally, public opinion takes little account of the fact that, to maintain its multifunctional character, the forest must be able to keep a productive character, compatible with ecological and social challenges (recreational, heritage, etc.). FORET PRO BOS therefore sets out to boost the territory's stakeholders through targeted actions to enhance the timber resource in short circuits. The actions meet the needs to quantify, renew, consolidate and enhance the timber resource within the cross-border territory. Timber producers, both in forest and agricultural environments will be specifically informed and trained by the project. The expected results are aimed at sustainably convincing as many producers and forestry professionals as possible to sign up for the integrated management of their land parcels. (English)
