Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide. The impact on quality of life and social participation makes it a major public health issue. However, symptoms related to speech intelligibility, emotional adjustment and relationships with others are clearly not being addressed to an adequate extent. The ParkinsonCom project wishes to co-construct and make available an evolving tool to improve communication with and for patients with the disease and their families. In order to meet the complexity of the needs and the solutions to be provided, a multidisciplinary and cross-border partnership is essential. Researchers, developers, professionals, patients and caregivers are involved in specific modules: research and needs analysis, co-construction of the tool, its evaluation and cross-border training in its use. The final tool will be bilingual (French and Dutch) and based on international standards to ensure its sustainability. (English)
