Property / summary

The project ends where previous efforts to promote exports for small and medium-sized enterprises in Kronoberg have ended. Since 2015, the Regional Export Collaboration (RES) project has been conducted in one-year projects with the aim of promoting collaboration in the regional promoter system and offering companies a simpler route to export and internationalisation. From previously implemented projects there is a tested and developed model for collaboration and target group activities that are deemed to work well. With this initiative, Region Kronoberg intends to continue developing the regional promoter system in order to create even better conditions to offer the target group export-oriented activities that contribute to an increased knowledge, interest and capacity to export. In 2020, there were many events that had a strong impact on the project’s target group and partners. On the one hand, the changing world in the wake of the pandemic meant that many of the target companies experienced a crisis situation where internationalisation and exports fell back into priority and core activities were prioritised. It is estimated that there is a need to continue and improve the joint work within RES to develop collaboration between promoters and activities towards the target group further, in order to overcome perceived obstacles and challenges with exports. Kronoberg’s Smart Specialisation Strategy 2021-2027 describes the importance of exports for the region’s economy as a whole. For Kronoberg, as a smaller region, export revenues and the external resources that this means are a prerequisite for the region to grow. Historically, RES has had difficulties in reaching companies run by women and people with a foreign background. This is taken into account when developing a communication plan when planning and implementing activities towards the target group. The project also has a conflict of objectives regarding environmental aspects linked to exports, which often have a negative impact on the environment, which the project will take into account. At the end of the project, the goal is that the project results have contributed to increased capacity and opportunities for internationalisation by participating companies and that the project has strengthened collaboration between promoters.
