Makroalgen sind an ihrem Wuchsort im Flachwasserbereich der Küsten immer wieder sehr hoher UV-Strahlung ausgesetzt. Bestimmte Arten enthalten Pigmente, die sie gegen die schädlichen Auswirkungen der UV-Strahlung an ihrem Standort schützen. In dem Vorhaben sollen diese Pigmente in einer Kosmetikfomulatur als Sonnenschutz eingesetzt werden. Verbundvorhaben mit der Fa. oceanBASIS GmbH LPW-E/3.2.1/409 (German)

Macroalgae are repeatedly exposed to very high UV radiation at their growth site in the shallow water area of the coasts. Certain species contain pigments that protect them against the harmful effects of UV radiation on their site. In the project, these pigments will be used in a cosmetic foam as sun protection.
