THEME E ECONOMIC IMPACTS Covid-19 demontrates how closely health and economy are linked: health measures have huge economic impacts, while economic factors deeply influence health outcomes, including the delivery of health & social care. This project brings together 13 partners from across all NPA countries, and Canada, to examine the economic impacts of and responses to Covid; capture innovations and transformations that have taken place as a result; and set out a roadmap and recommendations for positive action and policy to create more sustainable and resilient regional/local communities/economies that deliver greater health & wellbeing, and also social, cutural and economic benefits for peoples across the NPA. The partners bring huge diversity of knowledge and perspectives to the project, geographically and institutionally (e.g. academic/research institutes, public sector & development agencies, business associations, Third Sector organisations) and in terms of expertise (e.g. medical, economic, business, community development, human rights). The project will analyse the economics of health service delivery and give special attention to peripheral areas and to young people and entreprenerus (up to age 40), to gain their unique perspectives and innovations on Covid and sustainable development. It will also add a human rights perspective on the inequities of health systems/economies, including for indigenous communities within the NPA. This diversity will ensure the project integrates many different perspectives on economic impacts and responses to Covid (fitting for the complex challenges Covid has caused), including comparative transnational analysis, while remaining rooted in realities on the ground. In this way the project recommendations for redesigning regional/local communities/economies will be both holistic and practical. The partners expect to deliver on the recommendations through existing and future transnational cooperation projects. (English)
