The main goal of the project is to make the cultural and natural heritage accessible in the cross-border region. For this purpose, an "interactive" cycle path "Against the flow of time through the Renaissance region" is being prepared, which does not use classic markings, but via a mobile app, interactive maps and classical media becomes visible and usable. The route offers many adventure points (views, cultural and natural monuments, etc.). Some of the smaller sights on the route have already been forgotten or there is no relevant and sufficient advertising for them. We want to document all the monuments along this route and their surroundings - as well as the history of the entire area along the river Thaya. First a joint cross-border online archive of the Renaissance region is being created, which will contain information from the history of the area and attractive places. The next step is to create a mobile app along this route and its surroundings. The app offers an insight into the history as well as a number of tourist attractions including the possibility of a personal guide. The mobile app will also include a geocaching game and an expanded reality offering – views of the past through the phone's camera. As part of the project, we would also like to round off the range of attractions in the area to familiarize visitors with history (forgotten settlements, displaced villages, summer baths on the Thaya), natural and cultural monuments, handicrafts (stonemasonry, crib construction, herbs), but also present the flora of the area and its geological development. By implementing these activities, we would like to encourage visitors / residents of the region to take a gentle stance and respect the natural and cultural heritage of the Renaissance Region. With this innovative approach, we plan to address the increasingly demanding visitors to the region, for whom a multi-day experience awaits on the 230 km route, thus extending the length of a stay in the region.
