2.5.1 Supporting the necessity of the project, antecedents The Jews of Balassagyarmat have a long history of centuries, and have played a very important role in the life of the city for a long time. During the horrors of World War II, most of the Jewish community was lost, and one of the largest Orthodox synagogues in the country was blown up by the Germans. After the war, the building of the former Holy Church (Chevra Kadisa) began to be used as a house of prayer. However, with the eclipse of the community, this building was slowly out of use and its condition deteriorated. First of all, thanks to the work of the Kertész István Foundation, the house of prayer was renovated in the late 1990s. Later in the summer of 2000, the Jewish Collection and Exhibition Hall of Ipoly was established here, which, on the one hand, shows the history of the Jewry of Balassagyarmat through material relics, photographs, tabloids and other documents. On the other hand, it is an urban scene for temporary exhibitions, scientific and artistic performances. 2.5.2 Preparedness of the project Available preparatory document: other document (full technical mapping of the Community space to be renovated and extended, preparation of its technical plans has been completed). 2.5.3 The target group(s) concerned by the project: local and (cross-border) primary and secondary school pupils, local and regional adult groups, private individuals, tourists with Jewish roots in Hungary and abroad (mostly from all over the world), Jewish people from Balassagyarmat, from Budapest and abroad, other Christian religious communities — linked to the Bible — retired domestic groups, religious and non-religious car associations, backpacked, “boot-boot” tourists, countrymen arriving on means of transport, etc. 2.5.4 Activities to be implemented The Kertész István Foundation plans further works in the existing community space and exhibition hall. This would result in the extension of the exhibition material, the necessary renovation works, the creation of a multifunctional public space that can be used for four seasons, and the accessibility of the building. Most of the works concern the rear and courtyard part of the building. 3.1.1. Self-eligible activity: Refurbishment and refurbishment of covered spaces for public purposes. 3.1.2. Ineligible activities: 3.1.2.1. Mandatory, ineligible activities (a) Additional tasks related to the preparation of the project: —Preparation of a professional foundation document -Technical and architect planning (preparation of plans at construction, licensing or construction level and related authorisation procedures, where relevant) (b) Additional tasks related to the implementation of the project: — Mandatory publicity in accordance with Chapter 10 of the GIP — Accessibility — where relevant, on the basis of the relevant aspects of Chapter 3.4.1.1 of this notice. 2.5.5 Technical and professional achievements and their maintenance (if relevant) Multifunctional heated space can be heated with rational and economical construction, the costs and sustainability of which will be ensured by the Foundation through its own resources. 2.6 Business indicators Indicator Name of unit base value base value Year of target value Year of public or commercial buildings built or renovated in urban areas m² — - 61.6 2020 (English)

2.5.1 A projekt szükségességének alátámasztása, előzmények A balassagyarmati zsidóság több évszázados múltra tekint vissza, hosszú időn át igen jelentős szerepet töltött be a város életében. . 2.5.4 Megvalósítandó tevékenységek A Kertész István Alapítvány a meglévő közösségi térben, kiállító teremben további munkálatokat tervez. Ezek eredményeképpen megtörténne a kiállítási anyag bővítése, a szükséges felújítási munkák elvégzése, egy négy évszakon át használható, többfunkciós közösségi tér kialakítása, továbbá az épület akadálymentesítése.A munkálatok legnagyobb részben az épület hátsó, udvar felőli részét érintik. 3.1.1.
