In the Hungarian public awareness, the possibility of pilgrimage and the services of the Hungarian pilgrims appear only to a small extent, so the psychological and physical results of pilgrimage and sport pilgrimage are not known. The aim of the project is to draw the public’s attention to the spiritual and preventive role of pilgrimage, as well as the conservation power of cultural heritage, the relationship between faith and sport. The relationship between Hit and Sport is now recognised at secular and ecclesiastical level, but its exploitation and use to pass on Christian values and to achieve missionary goals are not widespread today, and there are no cross-border cooperation on the subject. There is a complete lack of research into the demonstration of results achieved. We research this problem together with foreign partners, comparing different data to develop the appropriate methodology and training materials. Within the framework of the project, we establish an international network, which organises Mary Marton every year, which, with the help of a grand event, implements a wide-ranging communication channel that draws the public’s attention to the unique role of pilgrimage in the field of spiritual health, prevention, cultural heritage and heritage. The network members use the results of the research, as well as the results of the methodology to be developed, in their activities related to pilgrimages, in their extensive presentation and recruitment activities. With the help of the Mária Marathon program, we intend to create a live network, which aims to organise the event year after year, to present the Mária út in the media with the help of the event, to promote pilgrimage and to recruit pilgrims widely. Through the pilgrimage, participants can learn and experience the Hungarian cultural heritage sites and cultural traditions, as well as the combination of faith and sport. The aim of the research carried out under the project is to assess social groups as follows: — pilgrimage opportunities — the relationship between faith and sport — pilgrimage habits in the past and present — the role of pilgrimage in spiritual reinforcement — the role of pilgrimage in prevention — motivations for the journey of pilgrims. The result of the project is a new method which, in addition to the information on the organisation of the event, gives priority to the new know-how that emerged as a result of the project, with which the partners involved in the project and the network established within the project — the network of related municipalities and service providers — can play their role as a recruiter and educational service provider. During educational and recruitment activities, emphasising the unique role of pilgrimage in the field of mental health, prevention, cultural heritage and preservation of traditions. A Mária Maraton program segítségével élő hálózatot kívánunk kialakítani, mely célja a rendezvény évről évre történő megszervezése, a rendezvény segítségével a Mária Út médiában való megjelenése és a zarándoklás megismertetése, zarándokok toborzása széles körben.
