The project “Deepening the Bay of Malkai up to 14.5 m, including the installation of a conservation shore wall” is implemented by the State Enterprise Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, which manages, uses and disposes of the water, land, port infrastructure objects and other assigned or created assets of Klaipėda State Seaport (hereinafter — Port) in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania. The current navigational conditions in the Malkai Bay of Klaipėda State Seaport no longer correspond to changing global shipping trends. The steady increase in the number of vessels with high parameters has a negative impact on maritime safety in the Gulf of Malkki. The aim of the project is to implement the objective of measure 06.1.1-TID-V-505 — to improve the conditions of maritime traffic in Klaipėda State Seaport. The aim of the project is to improve maritime safety, improve maritime traffic conditions in the Gulf of Malkki (in the common maritime area) and implement measures that will contribute to the improvement of nature conservation conditions by ensuring the protection of the Smelte botanical reserve. The project envisages the construction (reconstruction) of a shore guard building (the conservation wall of the Smelte botanical reserve), the treatment of contaminated soil in the Malkai Bay, and the deepening of the Malkai Bay inflows and the area up to 14.5 m (the current design depth is 11.0 m). Projektą „Malkų įlankos gilinimas iki 14,5 m, įskaitant gamtosauginės krantosaugos sienutės įrengimą“ įgyvendina VĮ Klaipėdos valstybinio jūrų uosto direkcija, kuri Klaipėdos valstybinio jūrų uosto (toliau – Uosto) akvatoriją, žemę, Uosto infrastruktūros objektus ir kitą priskirtą ar sukurtą turtą valdo, naudoja ir juo disponuoja turto patikėjimo teise, vadovaudamasi Lietuvos Respublikos įstatymais. Esamos navigacinės sąlygos Klaipėdos valstybinio jūrų uosto Malkų įlankoje nebeatitinka besikeičiančių pasaulinių laivybos tendencijų. Nuosekliai augantis didelių parametrų laivų skaičius daro neigiamą įtaką laivybos saugumui Malkų įlankoje. Projektu siekiama įgyvendinti Veiksmų programos 06.1.1-TID-V-505 Priemonės tikslą – pagerinti jūrų transporto eismo sąlygas Klaipėdos valstybiniame jūrų uoste. Projektu siekiama padidinti laivybos saugumą, pagerinti jūrų transporto eismo sąlygas Malkų įlankoje (bendro naudojimo laivybos akvatorijoje) ir įgyvendinti priemones, kurios prisidės prie gamtos apsaugos sąlygų pagerinimo užtikrinant Smeltės botaninio draustinio apsaugą. Įgyvendinant projektą numatoma pastatyti (rekonstruoti) krantosaugos statinį (Smeltės botaninio draustinio gamtosauginę sienutę), išvalyti užterštą gruntą, esantį Malkų įlankoje, ir išgilinti Malkų įlankos įplaukos kanalą ir akvatoriją iki 14,5 m (esamas projektinis gylis – 11,0 m).
