The situation in Europe with the increasing flow of refugees and violence has also reached Sweden. The Swedish Government in September 2015 made clear their plans that new arrivals must quickly get to work and support themselves. Increased resources will be provided to both the Employment Office and other organizations involved. Medborgarskolan has, together with the Employment Service in Halmstad, Laholm, Hylte, the Skövde area and Region Halland, agreed on a method development project that well agrees with what is being requested not only by ESF, but also by the Swedish Government. The project is aimed at people with a foreign background who are in the final phase of the 2-year-old establishment, assignment and thus waiting to enter into the job and development guarantee or gone through the establishment mission and still are registered jobseekers. The aim is to facilitate and speed up the transition to employment or studies by trying new methods and approaches. By evaluating the impact of these activities we will get out good material for use by the Public Employment Service for future procurements for complementary interventions on participants in the final phase of establishment assignment. In addition to the obvious aim to speed up the transition to work or study for participants in the project, the project aims also to supplement and strengthen the efforts undertaken in the framework of the establishment assignment. The project will work closely with collaboration partners to strategically implement and anchor the results and methods to achieve effects over time and not only during the project implementation. The project owner will be working actively with various stakeholders such as authorities, industry and various non-profit organizations to create engagement and allow anchoring of achievements and project results The project will develop and test methods in a flexible and individualized way containing labor-related initiatives, community information, language training, but also have activities aimed at the individual home situations such as housing, child care and opportunities for active and meaningful leisure. We want to promote gender equality and equal opportunities so that women in the same way as men can take more steps into civil society when the fundamental need for security and well-being are also processed. Individuals are given opportunities in an innovative manner based on both the extended skill evaluation and enhanced study and careers guidance, choose one of two tracks. Either a path directed towards further studies on the way to work is chosen. Alternatively the participant selects a path that aims at as quickly as possible to get a job or internship by the opportunities the project can open with short training activities for basic jobs where there are employment needs. Stereotypical career selection will be counteracted by actively working with attitudes and values and to show positive role models. Lasting effects will be different networks and communities in the small business and employer environment, well-documented results from the various component activities that can be used in future tendering projects, developed and proven shorter vocational courses in areas where there are labor shortages, and various appropriate study at leisure. Participants will learn about Swedish society and can get practical experience of participating in enjoyable own development while other circle participants will have the opportunity to meet new groups of participants to a natural and mutual exchange of information and experiences.
