The Gothenburg Region Association of Local Authorities (GR) is the leadpartner of the project College Väst, funded by the European social fund (ESF). The projekt will start in April 2016 and last 24 months until 2018. The project aiming at creating strategic structures for cooperation in the region and will lead to increased collaboration between the education sector and working life. GR will interact with the Region Halland, VGR and other municipal cooperative organisations in Västra Götaland. Currently the number of learning pathways and study programs from secondary schools and thereafter is increasing as in the same time the society struggling with youth unemployment, integration issues and a matching problem between education and job opportunity. Therefor it has become increasingly important for a long-term and sustainable strategic work to develop structures’ and support interface between the education sector and working life The provision of skills is limited by gender stereotyped education and profession, as well as a widespread inaccessibility for people with various disabilities and / or mother tongue other than Swedish, both in education and in the labor market. In other words, it is a great potential to break these trends thus broaden the opportunities for recruitment. It's a win-win situation for individuals, educational landscape, the workplaces and society at large. The need of the project has its foundation in the problem analysis summarized in the following three parts, weak links and collaboration between education and work, insufficient knowledge and strategies for gender equality. In addition there is lack of strategic cooperation structures relating to education and work life in the Western region. To solve these problems the project takes its starting point from the ESF horizontal principles and the long term goals can be summarized to: - Strengthen the education system relevant to labor market needs - Exposing gender stereotyped vocational and educational choices for a change. The project will create opportunities to strengthen the current structures as well as joint cooperation structures. The project can be described in terms of three sub-projects: Project 1, Teknikcollege in GR Project 2, Vård- och omsorgscollege in GR Project 3, Food and Green industries in GR and Halland Two sub-projects are intended to develop the workplace learning issues as well as strengthen and secure re-certification of the Technical College (TC) and Care and welfare college (VoC) in GR. The third project will investigate and map new forms of cooperation between education and working life in the field of food and the green industries. The third project will be carried out in close collaboration between GR and Region Halland. The project's main objectives are described below 1. Develop workplace learning, quality safe and secure re-certification of existing college through cooperation. 2. Identify opportunities for new forms of cooperation in the field of food and green industries 3. Strenghten and develop sustainable collaboration Structures. The expected project results is 1. Well-developed systems for workplace learning and secured re-certification with a stronger link between education and working life in the existing college in GR 2. A qualified survey is completed and the possible routes for new cooperation in the field of food and green industries are identified. 3.Sustainable strategic structure for cooperation within the framework of education and working life is settled in a wider perspective in the western Sweden. Thus greater knowledge of diversity and equality in “college cooperation” seen from a gender equality, accessibility and non-discrimination perspective. The impact of the ESF project College Väst will strive to strengthening the education system so it will be relevant to labor market needs. In addition, gender-stereotyped career and educational choices are highlighted, which will lead to a wider recruitment base from the perspective of gender equality, available equality and non-discrimination perspective. Ultimately, the project will contribute to a sustainable strategic cooperation structures for better matching between education options and the labor market needs, eventually it leads to a greater and more equal employment in western Sweden. GR promote cross-municipal cooperation and work as a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences within the region. The thirteen member municipalities of Ale, Alingsås, Göteborg, Härryda, Kungsbacka, Kungälv, Lerum, Lilla Edet, Mölndal, Partille, Stenungsund, Tjörn and Öckerö. Together GR municipalities have around 940 000 inhabitants and represent various areas of big city to small-town and rural areas. (Swedish)
