The objective of the EETES project is to produce a preliminary study and a plan for an eco-industrial symbiosis-based food chain (so-called agroecological symbiosis: AES) i.e. to start an AES-model enterprise in Etelä-Savo. AES is a new food chain business model created and piloted by the applicant in a previous project (Ministry of the Environment, Raki Programme) in Finland that meets the requirements of the bio-economy and circular economy. It is not only bioenergy self-sufficient, but also produces bioenergy for other production activities and transport. The AES model does not fix the old system, but offers a new, climate-efficient and nutrient-recycling system for the side/farm. As a precondition for environmental sustainability, AES is a localised food system. Localised and compatible with the ecosystem, it is decentralised and thus secure of supply, unlike the centralised food supply chain of the fossil economy, which is vulnerable to increasing variations in environmental, economic and social conditions. Localisation supports the growth of rural businesses and the vitality of rural municipalities. The EETES project investigates and produces the necessary input data, identifies and engages the necessary private and public actors, and produces a project plan for piloting a food system in South Savo in accordance with the AES operating model; the county would be a national and international forerunner. The studies carried out in the project, the operational groups and networks identified by the project, and the jointly produced project plan for a pilot project to be launched are the results of the ETES project. ETES-hankkeen tavoite on tuottaa esiselvitys ja suunnitelma ekoteollisiin symbiooseihin perustuvan elintarvikeketjun (ns. agroekologiset symbioosit: AES) eli AES-mallin mukaisen yrittämisen käynnistämiseksi Etelä-Savossa. Ekologisen kestävyyden reunaehtona AES on paikallistettu elintarvikejärjestelmä.
